Tangail Correspondent:

Traffic on the Dhaka-Tangail-Bangabandhu Bridge highway has started to getting normalized after several hours of gridlock caused by huge pressure of vehicles ahead of Eid-ul-Azha, the second largest religious festival of the Muslims. As a result, passengers and drivers are getting relieved gradually.

Elenga highway police outpost in-charge OC Mir Md. Sajedur Rahman said that currently, traffic is normal on the Dhaka-Tangail-Bangabandhu Bridge highway. Traffic tails were caused due to vehicle breakdowns and toll plazas being closed several times in the morning. Later, traffic returned to normal as the day progressed.

It is learned that, ahead of Eid, due to the pressure of extra vehicles and multiple breakdowns of vehicles in the Bangabandhu Bridge area and closure of toll collection activities, traffic tails were created on the highway from 5:00 am. This caused vehicular congestion in an area of 15 km from the Bangabandhu Bridge’s east end to Elenga. Later, after 10 am, the traffic on the highway became normal.
