A Dhaka court on Sunday imposed a travel ban on former minister of liberation war affairs, AKM Mozammel Huq.

The Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge’s Court, presided over by Judge Zakir Hossain Galib, issued the order following a petition by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

The petition was filed by ACC Deputy Director Monirul Islam, and after the hearing, the court granted the request.

According to the petition, an investigation is underway against AKM Mozammel Huq regarding allegations of taking commissions in contracting work, financial irregularities, misappropriation of funds through corruption, laundering money abroad, and amassing wealth beyond known sources of income in his and his family members’ names.

The petition further said that reliable sources have indicated that AKM Mozammel Huq is attempting to leave the country.

To ensure a smooth investigation process, it is essential to prevent him from traveling abroad.
