A Dhaka court has issued a travel ban on former Minister of Fisheries and Livestock Abdur Rahman, ex-MP from Faridpur-1 constituency.
The court of Dhaka Metropolitan Session Judge (Acting) Farzana Yasmin passed the order on Sunday following a petition by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
Deputy Director Anwarul Haque of the ACC applied for the ban on his departure from the country.
Investigation is underway against Abdur Rahman for abuse of power, misappropriation of government money through various irregularities and corruption and acquiring extra wealth in his own name and in the name of his family members, mentioned in the application.
ACC prosecutor Mahmud Hossain Jahangir heard the application on behalf of the court. After the hearing, the court ordered the ban on traveling abroad.
