Being a student, Foysal Biswas has set up an example in Raiganj upazila of Sirajganj district by planting huge number of trees at different places including roadsides.
Watching his motivational activities, locals are now leaning into tree plantation activities day by day.
Due to Foysal’s love to nature and environment, he has become well known in the area as a tree lover.
Sources said, Foysal Biswas, son of late Rafique Islam Biswas of Shimla village in the upazila and also first year student of Sirajganj Government College and University has been started tree plantation in the area since 2023 with the support of his family, friends and close relatives.
The tree plants include fruit, forest and medicinal etc.
As a part of his initiative, over 2500 saplings of fruit, forest and medicinal trees have already been planted at different places including educational institutions and roadsides.
Talking to The Daily Sky, Foysal said, “I have planted over 2000 trees with various varieties including fruit, forest and medicinal in the last two months. Earlier, I have planted saplings of 500 more trees. Now I targeted to plant 10 lakh of trees in future.”
“If I get government or any other organization’s supports, I shall be able to fulfill my goal,” he added.
Asadullah Khan Sazal, a local resident said, “Foysal’s initiative is praiseworthy. If the capable people come to do so like him, our environment will get new life. Foysal’s move is an exceptional compared to other youths.”
Akidul Islam Babu, teacher of Dhanghora High School said, “Foysal is our former student. We are proud of him. We should help him in this work.”
Appreciating the work, Humayun Kabir, UNO of Raiganj said, “I heard about Foysal. All should do such work to protect our environment and nature. We should plant at least a tree sapling at our home’s yard being inspired by Foysal.”
