Jamlpur Correspondent:
A commuter train collided with a watermelon-laden truck at the Kanil Ghunti level crossing in Jamalpur on Thursday injuring three people, including the train driver.
The accident, which occurred around 11:30am, disrupted train services on the Jamalpur-Mymensingh route for over an hour, said Rabiul Islam, officer-in-charge of Jamalpur Railway Police Station.
According to railway sources, a Dhaka-bound commuter train was approaching Kanil Ghunti when a Jamalpur-bound truck broke through the crossing gate and got stuck on the tracks.
The train crashed into the vehicle, which then slammed into a nearby shop, injuring the train driver, the gatekeeper, and the shopkeeper.
Locals rescued the injured and rushed them to Jamalpur General Hospital.
Following engine repairs, the train was moved to Nandina station, and operations resumed shortly after, the OC added.
