Lalmonirhat Correspondent:

Several passengers were injured in a head-on collision between two trains at the BDR Gate area, just north of the Lalmonirhat Divisional Railway Station, on Monday afternoon.

The accident occurred around 2:00 pm, involving a local train and the Dhaka-bound Lalmoni Express.

Sources said a local train arriving from the Burimari land port in Patgram was entering the Lalmonirhat railway station when the Dhaka-bound Lalmoni Express was heading toward the wash pit. A signal malfunction led to a head-on collision between the two trains. As a result, the engine of the Lalmoni Express was damaged, and two coaches overturned. Several passengers were injured in the incident.

On information, the fire service and army quickly arrived at the spot and began rescue operations. The injured were rushed to the hospital.

Lalmonirhat Railway Station Master Nurun Nabi said that detailed information will be provided officially after the rescue operation is completed.

Lalmonirhat Railway Police Station Officer-in-charge Mamun Hasan also confirmed the incident.
