A court in Sirajganj on Wednesday sent Sheikh Enamul Haque, General Secretary of Jatiotabadi Ulama Dal and also Office Secretary of Sirajganj Press Club to Jail in a case filed over misappropriating money and cheating with a company.

Md. Billal Hossain, Judge of the Senior Judicial Magistrate Court issued the order after he was appeared before the court along with a bail petition. The court also denied the bail and asked police to send him in Jail.

Enamul Haque, resident of Panchil village under Khokshabari union of Sirajganj Sadar upazila was also member of BNP media shell. He used to serve as Money and Banking Assistant Officer at Misham Agro Industry Limited and Misham Feeds Limited in Bonbaria of the upazila.

On April 2016, he withdrew Tk 16 lakh from a bank, while he was serving at the company and misappropriated the money. After the incident, a case was lodged against him on behalf the company. On September 2019, relevant court sentenced him three years in prison.

Enamul submitted an appeal against the verdict and after the hearing on June 21, 2023, the Judge of District Joint Judge’s Court upheld the lower court’s verdict. The court then issued an arrest warrant against him.

Advocate Shah Alam David said that, Enamul was sentenced to three years in prison in another fraud case filed by the same company.

On April 13, 2016, Enamul withdrew Tk 420,000 through two company checks and went into hiding.

In this regard, the company’s store officer Shakil Uddin filed a case on charges of embezzlement and fraud. On May 31, 2018, the court sentenced him to three years in prison and a fine of Tk 10,000 in that case.
