Sports Desk:
Kathmandu descended into turmoil on Monday as student-led protests against the government triggered a sudden curfew in the Nepalese capital.
Against this backdrop, serious doubts have emerged over Tuesday’s FIFA international friendly between Bangladesh and Nepal at the Dasharath Rangasala Stadium in Kathmandu.
“In preparation for the second FIFA international friendly against Nepal, Bangladesh were scheduled to train at 3:00 pm on Monday at the Dasharath Stadium. However, the session has been temporarily postponed due to unavoidable circumstances. A revised schedule will be announced in due course,” the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) confirmed through a media release.
Despite the uncertainty, both teams’ coaches and captains attended the pre-match press conference on Monday morning.
The series opener on 6 September ended in a goalless draw, part of Bangladesh’s preparations for next month’s AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers against Hong Kong.
