A ship carrying 12,700 tonnes of rice from Vietnam arrived at Chattogram Porton Monday (April 7).

The Atop rice was imported under a government-to-government contract, said a press release published by the food ministry.

Earlier, the government signed a contract to import 1 lakh tonnes of rice from Vietnam, among which 60,000 tonnes of rice has been already imported, the press release added.

“Samples of the imported rice has already been tested and necessary steps have been taken to begin the unloading process quickly,” the release further said.
