A view exchange meeting on OMS programme held at the Shaheed Shamsuddin Conference Room of the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Sirajganj on Thursday.
District Administration organized the programme with the aim to provide guidance and exchange views with the stakeholders for the smooth management of the Open Market Sales (OMS) activities, which are going to be conducted at the district and upazila levels centering the holy Ramadan.
The programme was presided over by Muhammad Nazrul Islam, Deputy Commissioner (DC) in Sirajganj.
During the programme, the Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Nazrul Islam said, “The interim government has expanded the Open Market Sales (OMS) programme across the country to assist poor and helpless families in a bid to cope with the recent inflation, as the retail prices of kitchen essentials have been continued to soar in the local market despite several measures.”
The DC also warned saying that, “Stern action would be taken, if any allegation of graft or fault activities is found. All concerned persons should keep aware in which no manipulation occurs here. Besides, proper distribution must be ensured so that poor and distressed people of all nine upazilas in the district get benefit from this initiative.”
He also provided several instructions to the stakeholders and relevant officials to make the OMS activities more effective and transparent during this holy month of Ramadan.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Ganapati Roy, President of District OMS Dealers’ Association Md. Tarazul Islam and Chief Assistant of the District Food Department in Sirajganj Md. Kamrul Ahmed among others were also present at the event.
In addition, leaders of OMS activities at the district and upazila levels and local journalists from different print and electronic media also took part in the event.
