TDS Desk:

The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court (SC) has upheld Faridpur’s Saltha upazila chairman candidate Md Wadud Matubbar’s candidacy

An eight-member Appellate Division bench led by Chief Justice Obaidul Hasan passed this order on Sunday.

Through this order, there is no legal bar for holding Saltha Upazila Parishad election on June 21, lawyers said.

Adv Nurul Islam Sujon, Adv SM Rezaul Karim and Adv Shah Manzurul Haque were present in the court for Wadud Matubbar.

Earlier on May 14, a chamber judge has ordered to return back his candidacy declaring his nomination legal.

Wadud Matubbar has submitted a writ petition with the High Court to return back his candidacy after his nomination has been cancelled.

The High Court, later, dismissed the writ and upheld the earlier decision to cancel his candidature. Then Wadudu filed a petition with the Appellate Division challenging the HC order.
