General Waker-Uz-Zaman took charge as the Chief of the Bangladesh Army.
Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) informed this in a press release on Sunday (June 23).
ISPR states that General Waker-Uz-Zaman has taken over the office as the Army Chief.
After taking charge, General Waker-Uz-Zaman replaced the outgoing former Army Chief General SM Shafiuddin Ahmed.
He will serve as the army chief for the next three years.
Earlier on June 11, ISPR informed in a press release that Chief of General Staff (CGS) Lieutenant General Waqar-uz-Zaman has been promoted to the rank of General from the afternoon of June 23 and has been appointed as the Army Chief for three years from that date.
