A CORRESPONDENT, BOGURA:

A court in Bogura has sentenced a woman to life-term imprisonment and three others to death for the murder of her husband.

The lifer is Mina Begum while the condemned convicts are her lover Shiblu, and his friends Shanto Mia and Naim. They all are residents of Sareeakandi upazila.

Judge Habiba Mondal of the Additional District and Sessions Judge Court delivered the verdict on Tuesday afternoon.

The court also fined Mina Tk 50,000. In default, she will have to serve two more years in jail.

Prosecution lawyer Abdur Razzaque Khan said Mina Begum, wife of auto-rickshaw driver Ashique Mia, a resident of Sareeakandi upazila, had an extra-marital affair with Shiblu.

On October 2, 2020, the accused strangulated Ashique to death and dumped his body into the Bangali river, he added.

Police recovered the body on October 4 of the same year, and on the following day, his brother Anis Uddin filed a case with Sareeakandi Police Station in this connection naming the four people mentioned above.
