Cox’s Bazar Correspondent:

A salt field worker died after being struck by lightning early Tuesday (April 29) at Eidgaon upazila in Cox’s Bazar district.

The incident occurred around 5:00 AM in the Charpara area at West Gomatoli village under Pokkhali union of the upazila.

The dead was Abu Taleb, 28, son of Mohammad Syed of that village.

Local UP member Abdullah Bin Syed Siddiqui said that during light rain early in the morning, Abu Taleb left for the salt fields. As the rain intensified and lightning began, he was struck on his way and died on the spot.

Eidgaon Police Station Officer-in-Charge Moshiur Rahman confirmed the incident. “Upon receiving the report of a death due to lightning in the salt field, a police team was dispatched to the location. Legal procedures are being followed,” he said.
