Like other parts of the country, ‘World Milk Day’ was observed in Sirajganj with the initiative of District Livestock Department as well as assistance of Livestock and Dairy Development Project (LDDP).
Marking the day, a colourful procession was brought out in the town from in front of Deputy Commissioner’s office and ended it nearby Officers Club Auditorium in the town after marching the main streets.
District Livestock Officer Dr. A.K.M. Anwarul Haque presided over the programme, while Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Nazrul Islam attended there as chief guest.
Superintendent of Police Md. Faruk Hossain, Additional Superintendent of Police Nazran Rouf, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Littus Lawrence Chiran and other senior officials of the district administration were also present at the event.
Local farmers Md. Abdullah Al Mamun of ‘Three Brothers Dairy Farm’ in Pipulbaria, Kona Begum of ‘Kona Dairy Farm’ in Sayadhangara and many others spoke at the event.
Various government initiatives for the development of the livestock sector were highlighted during the event.
Besides, prizes were distributed among the students who participated in the quiz, painting and essay competitions organized marking the day.
Child Samia Akhter, who won the painting competition, said, “I have drawn a picture on the topic of drinking milk to increase strength. I am very happy to receive the award.”
