Police have arrested a young man with two foreign pistols, four magazines, and eight rounds of ammunition at Bagha upazila in Rajshahi district.
He was apprehended around 11:30 AM on a paved road at Chakchhatari area in the Upazila on Monday.
The arrested is Nayan Hossain, a resident of Banglabazar village at Daulatpur upazila in Kushtia district.
According to police, they set up a checkpoint in front of Mamun’s house on the Rajshahi-Ishwardi highway in the Chakchhatari area around 11:00 AM on Monday to search vehicles.
At that time, Nayan was travelling towards Rajshahi in a van, carrying a bag. Police became suspicious and searched his bag, where they found two foreign pistols, four magazines and eight rounds of ammunition wrapped in polythene inside a fish container. He attempted to flee but was promptly arrested by the police.
Confirming the incident, Bagha Police Station officer-in-charge, A F M Asaduzzaman said that a case has been filed against him under the Arms Act and he will be sent to jail via court on Tuesday.
