Two people lost their lives in separate train accidents in Rajshahi and Natore.

On Saturday, at around 7am, a woman named Arjina Begum, 50, was killed after being hit by a train at the Harian rail crossing in Rajshahi’s Paba upazila.

Arjina, a resident of Katakhali area, was the wife of the late Abdus Sattar.

Rajshahi Railway police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Faisal Bin Ahsan confirmed the incident, saying that Arjina was mentally unstable and would often wander away from home. She was run over by the Madhumati Express train and died on the spot.

OC Faisal added that since the family has no complaints, an unnatural death case will be filed, and the body will be handed over to her relatives.

In another incident, a man named Moktar Hossain, 32, was killed after being struck by a train in Naldanga upazila of Natore on Friday at around 3:45pm.

Moktar was from Mokhlespur in Dinajpur’s Birol upazila.

Madhnagar Railway Station’s Station Master, Md Momin Uddin Prang, said that Moktar was a passenger on the Panchagarh-Rajshahi-bound Banglabandha Express.

While the train was stopped at Madhnagar station, Moktar stepped out to drink water.

As he returned, he was hit by the Dhaka-Panchagarh-bound Ekota Express and sustained critical injuries.

Locals took him to Natore Sadar Hospital, where the on-duty doctor pronounced him dead.
