Three Bangladeshis have been killed in a landmine explosion near the Myanmar border in Bandarban’s Naikhongchhari.
Bandarban Superintendent of Police Wahabul Islam Khondkar said the blast occurred at Baishfari Zero Point in Ghumdhum on Sunday.
The dead have been identified as Ghumdhum Union residents Chingkhong Chakma, 44, Chopoching Chakma, 47, and Ankyamong Tanchangya, 45.
Naikhongchhari Police chief Mozammel Haque said, “Separatists reside in the region on the other side of the frontier.
“They have planted landmines along the border. Three local men had gone to work there and died in an explosion.”
They had gone to work in a banana plantation there, police said.
