The local administration has taken a firm stance to ensure environmental protection and enforce the government ban on the use of polythene bags. As part of this ongoing effort, a mobile court was conducted in Belkuchi upazila of Sirajganj.
On Sunday (January 18, 2026), the mobile court carried out an operation at Mukundaganti Bazar in Belkuchi. During the drive, more than 1,100 kilograms of banned polythene bags were seized from various shops and surrounding areas of the market.
During the operation, Omar Paper Shop was found in possession of 53 kilograms of illegal polythene bags, for which the shop owner was fined Tk 3,000. Mujammel Store was fined Tk 5,000 after 108 kilograms of banned polythene were recovered. The highest amount—517 kilograms—was seized from Liton Store, leading to a fine of Tk 15,000. In addition, Motaleb Store was fined Tk 3,000 after 22 kilograms of illegal polythene bags were seized.

Furthermore, 400 kilograms of banned polythene bags were recovered from an abandoned location outside the market area. However, the authorities were unable to identify the owner of the seized items.
The mobile court was led by Assistant Commissioner and Executive Magistrate Nazmul Hossain. The operation was conducted with the support of Senior Warrant Officer Mofijul Islam, ASI Zainal Abedin, along with members of the Bangladesh Army, Police, and Ansar forces.
