Over 1.55 lakh families remain marooned in 59 upazilas in these districts

As many as 54 people have been killed and more than six lakh families have suffered losses amid the ongoing short-term floods in seven southeastern and northeastern districts of the country.
The Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief revealed the casualties and damages in an update on Monday.
The affected districts are: Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Bandarban and Rangamati in the southeast and Moulvibazar and Habiganj in the northeast.
In total, over 1.55 lakh households remain marooned in 59 upazilas in these districts.
Among the fatalities, Cox’s Bazar has recorded the most with 31 deaths. Chattogram has recorded 13 deaths, Bandarban six, Rangamati three and Moulvibazar one.
Futhemore, 39 other people have been injured, the most in Cox’s Bazar.
The government has opened 1.42 lakh shelters in the affected upazilas, where 38,422 people have taken shelter.
