A prisoner died from cardiac arrest in Sirajganj prison on Sunday morning.

The victim was identified as Rubel Bhuiyan, 45, son of Khalilur Rahman of Dhanbandi area in Sirajganj town.

According to the prison sources, Rubel fell into sick along with respiratory problem at morning and he was taken to Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib General Hospital in the town in critical condition. Later, he died at the hospital during ongoing treatment.

It is to be mentioned that, earlier on July 13, a mobile court sentenced him for six months imprisonment due to lifting sands illegally from Jamuna river.
