Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Friday expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of Chhatra League’s former leader, young writer and researcher Abdullah Harun Jewel.

She, in a condolence message, also prayed for the salvation of his departed soul and expressed sympathy to the bereaved family members and relatives.

Jewel was also a member of the office affairs subcommittee of Awami League’s 22nd National Council Preparation Committee.

AL general secretary Obaidul Quader also expressed profound shock and sorrow at the demise of the former BCL leader.

Abdullah Harun Jewel, 48, died at his residence in the city’s Shantinagar area in early hours of Friday. He left wife and a daughter to mourn his death, said an AL press release.
