Internet Service Providers Association of Bangladesh (ISPAB) Emdadul Haque on Sunday said that broadband internet will remain active despite the suspension of mobile internet services across the country.
He said: “We have not yet received any instructions regarding the shutdown of broadband internet. Therefore, broadband internet will remain active. However, social media platforms may be blocked. From our end, we can confirm that broadband internet will not be shut down.”
On the first day of the students’ non-cooperation movement, protests and clashes erupted across the country. In response to the situation, a directive has been issued to shut down the 4G network for mobile phone internet across the country.
In the afternoon, the 4G service was shut down following an order from a government agency.
