The National Sports Council (NSC) removed 16 officials and members from their respective posts in the executive committees of the country’s 13 different federations, associations, boards and organisations as per the National Sports Council Act 2018.

The process of the removal had been taking place for the past few days but the notice was officially issued on Wednesday, a day after the Ministry of Youth and Sports removed all the existing presidents of federations/ associations/ boards/ organisations in a bid to reform and make those more active.

The list included some big names that were considered influential members and officials in the country’s sports arena during the Sheikh Hasina-led Bangladesh Awami League regime and had been directly involved with NSC.

As per the list, former NSC director (Admin) Sheikh Hamim Hasan (joint secretary), who was appointed as general secretary of Bangladesh Bodybuilding Federation (BBBF) ad hoc committee by NSC, had been removed from his post.

Former NSC director (Sports) Md Shah Alam Sarder (joint secretary), who was appointed as a member of Bangladesh Olympic Association (BOA) by NSC, had been removed from his post.

NSC former Chairman’s Private Secretary, NSC deputy director and administrator for Bandarban District Stadium Rashiduzzaman Serniabat, who was elected assistant general secretary of Bangladesh Archery Federation (BAF), member of Bangladesh Weightlifting Federation (BWF) ad hoc committee and vice-president of Bangladesh Sepak Takraw Association ad hoc committee, had been removed from all these posts.

Among others, BBBF member and editor of NSC’s monthly named ‘Krirajagat’ Mahmud Hossain Khan Dulal, elected vice-president of Bangladesh Boxing Federation (BBF) and NSC deputy director (retd.) Sayeda Taslima Akter, member of Bangladesh Women Sports Federation (BWSF) ad hoc committee Ayesha Begum, BWSF member and former judo coach of NSC Kamrun Nahar Hiru.

NSC assistant director and member (NSC quota) of Bangladesh Cycling Federation (BCF) Mashudur Rahman, NSC assistant director and member of Bangladesh Wushu Federation (BWUF) Niyazul Hasan Khan, cycling coach of NSC and elected treasurer of BCF Sahidur Rahman, weightlifting coach of NSC and treasurer of BWF Sahidur Rahman.

Handball coach of NSC and elected assistant GS of BAF Kamrul Islam Kiron, NSC deputy assistant engineer and member of Bangladesh Tchoukball Federation (BTF) ad hoc committee, NSC sports officer and member (NSC quota) of Bangladesh Judo Federation (BJF) Maksud Ul Haque Bhuyan, PA to NSC secretary, elected member of Bangladesh Yoga Association and member of Bangladesh International Taekwon-Do Federation ad hoc committee Jillu Rahman, NSC field officer and elected member of BBF Salim Mia.
