29 held in Barishal for defying Hilsa fishing ban

A total of 29 fishermen have been arrested in an operation in Barishal for Hilsa hunting during the ban period.

On Sunday, they were arrested in a raid in Barishal’s Kalabadar river.

Fisheries Department officials, police and Ansar members took part in the operation.

About 5,000 meters of illegal nets and 15 kg of Hilsa were seized during the operation.

Barishal District Fisheries Officer Bimal Chandra Das said that legal action will be taken against the detainees.
