Jewellers have inflated the prices of both gold and silver in the local market. The price of pure gold increased by Tk1,574 per bhori to reach Tk1,43,525, while silver went up by Tk642 per bhori to reach Tk2,741.
The standing committee on pricing and price monitoring of the Bangladesh Jeweller’s Association (BAJUS) took the decision at a meeting on Wednesday.
The price of 22-carat gold is now Tk12,305 per gram while it is Tk11,746 for 21-carat, reads a press release signed by the committee Chairman Masudur Rahman.
The price of 18-carat gold has been fixed at Tk10,068 a gram while that of traditional gold at Tk8,275 a gram. The new rates will come into effect from Thursday, the release added.
The price of 22-carat silver is Tk235 per gram while 21-carat Tk225 and the price of 18-carat silver is Tk192 per gram and Tk144 for traditional ones.
