The central committee of Jubo Dal expelled three leaders from Lalmonirhat on charges of tender extortion, misconduct, and violations of party discipline, principles, and unity.
Tender extortion included preventing others from submitting bids and awarding contracts solely to preferred individuals.
An order signed by Minhajul Islam Bhuiyan, assistant office secretary of the central Jubo Dal, confirmed the expulsion on Thursday night.
In addition, the Lalmonirhat District Jubo Dal committee has been dissolved, Minhajul told media.
The expelled leaders include Jahangir Alam Julhas, vice president of the district Jubo Dal and convener of Lalmonirhat Poura Jubo Dal; Mominul Islam Momin, joint convener of Poura Jubo Dal; and Sumon Mia, organising secretary of Ward 7 Jubo Dal.
According to BNP sources, the three leaders were detained by the army on Wednesday noon while allegedly engaging in tender extortion at Lalmonirhat Sadar Hospital. Mominul and Sumon were released on the spot, while Jahangir was handed over to Lalmonirhat Sadar Police Station and later released the same night.
Minhajul said that the expulsion was ordered by the Jubo Dal central committee president and general secretary, removing the leaders from all positions, including primary membership.
