Maj Gen (ret) Emdad Ul Bari, chairman of the Bangladesh Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (BTRC), has said that the regulatory commission is working to reduce the cost of internet access in a bid to expand digital services in the country.
“The price of internet access should be as low as water. The cost of internet access must be reduced to expand the digital service network. We are working to this end,” he said.
While addressing a roundtable discussion held in Tejgaon area of Dhaka on Monday, the BTRC chairman said no monopoly business will be allowed in the country’s telecommunications sector.
The regulatory authority will take action in any company attempts to establish supremacy in the sector, said the government official.
