Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus is actively involved in the planning and designing of the upcoming edition of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), the country’s only franchise-based T20 tournament.
The head of the interim government has even penned the two lines for the theme song prepared for the event, an official of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) told the Daily Sun on Sunday.
The government plans to host a youth festival during the forthcoming edition of the BPL, the official noted, adding that nine ministries are collaborating with the BCB to ensure the successful hosting of the tournament that is scheduled to commence on 30 December.
“This youth festival during the BPL will undoubtedly engage the public with the tournament, and the concept has been approved by our esteemed Chief Adviser Yunus,” said the official.Earlier, Youth and Sports Adviser Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuiyan expressed that they aim to put an end to the controversies and deliver a refreshed and reformed BPL, focusing on increasing public engagement with the tournament, guided by the strategic vision of Prof Yunus who has experience in planning and designing global sports extravaganzas, such as the Olympics.
BCB officials have emphasised that there will be concerts and other activities as part of the BPL promotion, and it is expected that the matches will be held in an environmentally friendly manner.
