Syeda Rizwana Hasan, Adviser to the Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change and Water Resources said, “Work to be done on the priority basis to prevent river erosion and protect the lives and assets of people in different river erosion prone areas including Sirajganj.”
She came up with the remarks, while visiting heart point of the Jamuna river in Sirajganj town on Wednesday afternoon.
She said, “There is no political party in power. So, there is no lobbying of any Parliament Member (MP) or Minister for work or project. This is why, all the works will be done according to the decision of Water Development Board officials on the basis of priority. Besides, the works will be done with appropriate budget or allocation that to be determined for the projects after necessary investigation. We have to pay attention to determine correct budget in which there is no chance to be shortage or additional.”
“Not only that, the interim government is committed to retrieve the rivers grabbed by influential people during the Awami League regime,” she added.
Assuring to ensure flow of clean air, she said, “We want to protect our environment from all disasters and effect of climate changes. So, we all should be aware about the climate change issue as well as work together to protect our future generation from the clutch of climate change’s bad impact.”
Deputy Commissioner in Sirajganj Muhammad Nazrul Islam, WDB’s Executive Engineer Md Mokhlesur Rahman and Sirajganj Sadar UNO Monowar Hossain among others were also present during her visit to the river bank.
