A court in Sirajganj on Thursday placed advocate Abdur Rahman, also former Public Prosecutor (PP) of Sirajganj District and Sessions Judge Court, on a five-day remand in murder case filed over the death of three BNP and Jubo Dal leaders during the July-August mass uprising.
Mohammad Billal Hossain, Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate of the court issued the order.
Earlier on November 10, the advocate was a victim of mass-beating in front of Awami League office at Gulistan in Dhaka for chanting Joy Bangla slogan, while BNP and its allies gathered there. Later, he was also handed over to police by the mobs.
On November 11, Rahman was brought to Sirajganj and sent to prison in a case filed for killing of three BNP and Jubo Dal leaders including Jubo Dal Vice-President Shohanur Rahman Ranju during the Anti Discrimination Students-Public movement on August 4.
Police produced him before the court on Thursday noon seeking 10 days remand. After hearing from the both sides, the judge granted a five day remand against Rahman.
