Bangladesh skipper Mehidy Hasan admitted the batters couldn’t play properly while the bowlers did well in the first Test in Antigua.

The visitors  suffered a 201-run defeat in the first of two-match Test series on Tuesday  after batting failure in both innings despite a brilliant six-fer by Taskin Ahmed in West Indies’ second innings.

“Obviously it was a challenge for us. We couldn’t play properly as batters, the bowlers however did well,” Mehidy said after the match.

“We couldn’t build partnerships, there were some partnerships but not big ones. If we built partnerships of 100-150 runs, then the scenario could’ve been different. Then the score would’ve been around 400. In the second innings, we got them out for 150 runs. If we can amplify the lackings, then it will be good for us,” he added.

“We will try to improve in the next match. We will try to mitigate the lackings. In Jamaica, we will select the eleven according to the conditions. We will try to work on our mistakes,” he concluded.
