A Correspondent, Kushtia:

Two women were killed in a road accident on their way to collect rice from TCB in Kushitia’s Mirpur upazila on Wednesday.

The accident occurred around 9:30 am at Moshan Bazar in the upazila.

The dead were Chhabela, 70, and Maryam, 50, residents of Kobarbaria village under the upazila.

Mirpur Police Station SI Sheikh Rakibul Islam said the victims were going to collect TCB rice from Union Parishad by a van. When they reached Moshan Bazar, the van was run over by a trolley carrying rods coming from the opposite direction.

Chhabela and Maryam were seriously injured. They were rushed to Kushtia General Hospital where doctors declared both of them dead.

The bodies of the two have been taken to the morgue for autopsy, the police added.
