Govt working to alleviate people’s suffering for energy: State Minister for Power

State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Anindya Islam Amit has said that the impact of the energy crisis due to the global crisis has also touched Bangladesh. But the government is working sincerely so that the people do not have to suffer.

He said this in response to a question from journalists after visiting Jashore Medical College Hospital on Saturday.

Anindya Islam Amit said, “The government is working so that farmers are not affected in any way. Farmers are being supplied with uninterrupted electricity and fuel oil. The government is working sincerely so that the people do not have to suffer.”

He said, “The wheels of development that have been stagnant in Jashorefor the past 17 years will be set in motion again through the visit of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman. In 2006, he announced the establishment of a 500-bed medical college hospital in Jashore in a historic public meeting at Jashore Eidgah Maidan. The people of Jashore have not received that medical college hospital till this day. Even before the last election, we had a political commitment that if elected, we would build this hospital in Jashore. In continuation of that, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone of this hospital.”

The State Minister said, “On the morning of April 27, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman will go from Jashore Airport to Ulashi in Sharsha Upazila. There, he will participate in the re-excavation of Ulashi Canal, which is associated with the memory of martyred President Ziaur Rahman. After that, the Prime Minister will return to Jashoretown and lay the foundation stone of Jashore Medical College Hospital. Later, after visiting the Jashore Institute Public Library, he will address a public meeting at Jashore Eidgah Maidan as the chief guest.”

In preparation for Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s visit to Jessore, he held a meeting with the heads of various government departments of the district in the conference room of the Jashore Deputy Commissioner on Saturday morning. Later, after visiting the place where the foundation stone of Jashore Medical College Hospital was laid, he visited Ulashi Canal in Sharsha Upazila.

Jashore deputy commissioner Mohammad Ashek Hasan, superintendent of police Syed Rafiqul Islam, District BNP president Syed Saberul Haque Sabu, general secretary Delwar Hossain Khokon, officials of the District Health Department and SSA were present at the time.
