Bangladesh team wins 2 gold, 4 silver medals at int’l robot contest for teenagers

The Bangladesh team has won 10 medals, including two gold medals, at the 26th International Robot Olympiad held in Busan, South Korea during 17-20 January.

The awards were handed over on Tuesday.

Ariyetti Islam of “Team Anari” won gold in the Creative category’s junior segment, while Namia Rowjat of “Seriously Clueless” team won gold in the Creative Movie category’s senior segment.

Ariyetti Islam also won a silver medal in the Physical Computing category’s junior segment. Nusaiba Tajrin of “Zeroth” team and Priyonti Das of “Team Shifu” won silvers in the Creative Move category’s senior segment.

Ariyetti is a student of Manipur High School and College, Namia Rowjat belongs to HURDCO International School, Nusaiba studies at YWCA Higher Secondary Girls School and Priyonti at Scholastica School.

Three other Bangladeshi contestants from Dhaka Residential Model College jointly won the fourth silver medal for their country in the Creative category’s senior segment. The trio are: Hasin Ishraq Chowdhury Taha, AZM Imtenan Kabir, and Abrar Abir.

The 10-member Bangladesh team also won four bronze medals at the contest.

The Bangladeshi team members were selected through a grilling contest last year. The seventh edition of Bangladesh Robot Olympiad was held in three stages during September-October 2024. The Olympiad has been held since 2018.

The International Robot Olympiad is one of the world’s leading youth robotics contests, held since 1999. It brings together representatives from 30 countries to compete in 42 categories over five days. This year, over 3,400 participants from 20 countries competed in robotics and AI events at the contest.
