The Appellate Division has deferred the hearing of Jamaat leader ATM Azharul Islam’s review petition against his death sentence in the 1971 crimes against humanity case.

The hearing has been rescheduled for February 20.

The petition was scheduled third on the agenda of the Appellate Division’s bench, led by Chief Justice Syed Refaat Ahmed. However, the hearing was postponed due to the illness of one of the Justices.

Advocate Shishir Monir confirmed to the media that the review hearing of ATM Azharul Islam will be held on February 20, listed as item number one on the agenda. Due to the illness of one of the Justices, the hearing will take place before a full bench on that date.

Earlier, on January 9, the Appellate Division, headed by Chief Justice Syed Refaat Ahmed, had scheduled today for the hearing of the review petition.

Senior lawyer Barrister Abdur Razzaq, assisted by Advocate Mohammad Shishir Manir, Barrister Ehsan A Siddique, and Barrister Najib Momen, presented Jamaat leader ATM Azharul Islam’s review petition in court.
