Shamim Osman, former lawmaker from Narayanganj-4 constituency, and his family memebrs have been imposed a travel ban over graft allegations.
A court in Dhaka on Tuesday imposed the travel ban on Shamim Osman, his wife Salma Osman, son Imtinan Osman and daughter Labiba Zoha.
Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Zakir Hossain Galib passed the order, allowing a plea of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
The ACC in its plea said it is probing allegations against the former lawmaker and his family members of amassing illegal wealth, buying houses in Canada and the US, running businesses in Dubai with the money amassed through tender manipulation, rampant extortion, taking commissions from the transport owners, selling party posts and embezzling government funds.
“The accused are trying to flee the country to evade justice and a travel ban should be imposed on them for the sake of proper investigation,” the ACC plea added.
