Muslims in Bangladesh will start observing fasting from Sunday as the crescent moon was sighted in the country’s sky on Saturday, marking the start of the holy month of 1446 Hijri.
The decision was made at a meeting of the National Moon Sighting Committee held at the conference room of Islamic Foundation at Baitul Mukarram National Mosque in Dhaka this evening.
Religious Affairs Adviser AFM Khalid Hossain presided over the meeting.
Muslims are meant to fast from dawn to dusk during Ramadan, a time of restraint and austerity.
