ICC Bangladesh President Mahbubur Rahman has highlighted the Asian Development Bank’s (ADB) longstanding support in advancing the organization’s initiatives, particularly in trade and supply chain finance.

He made the remarks during a recent meeting with ADB Country Director Hoe Yun Jeong at the ICC Bangladesh office, where discussions centered on strengthening cooperation between the two institutions.

Welcoming ADB Country Director Jeong, Mahbubur Rahman emphasized that ADB has been actively supporting ICC Bangladesh’s activities for several years. He noted that ADB’s engagement with ICC Bangladesh dates back to 2000 when its then-President, Tadao Chino, attended the ICC Asia Conference on Investment in Developing Countries: Increasing Opportunities, held in Dhaka.

“Since 2015, ADB, through its Trade and Supply Chain Finance Programme (TSCFP), has collaborated with ICC Bangladesh to organize a series of workshops and conferences,” Rahman stated. He expressed appreciation for ADB’s continued engagement and underscored the importance of strategic partnerships in fostering economic growth in Bangladesh.

Mahbubur Rahman also stressed the need for public-private collaboration in areas such as trade digitalization, financial accessibility, and sustainable business practices. “The partnership between ICC Bangladesh and ADB plays a crucial role in ensuring Bangladesh remains integrated into the global trade and investment landscape,” he added.

ADB Country Director Hoe Yun Jeong reiterated ADB’s commitment to supporting Bangladesh’s sustainable development journey. He reaffirmed ADB’s willingness to expand future collaborations with ICC Bangladesh in key areas that drive economic growth and trade efficiency.

The meeting was attended by ICC Bangladesh Vice Presidents A. K. Azad and Naser Ezaz Bijoy, along with Executive Board Members and representatives from the private sector, further demonstrating the strong engagement between ICC Bangladesh and ADB in promoting trade and economic development.
