Three children drowned in different upazilas in Chandpur district on Saturday.

The incidents took place at Sadar, Faridgonj and Hajiganj Upazilas in the district.

The deceased were identified as Maimuna, 3, daughter of Shahid, a resident of Bohoria village of sadar upazila, Miraj, 2, son of Ahmed Sheikh of Bagra Bazar are of Faridgonj upazila and Junaid, 2, son of Saddam of Rajargaon village of Hajiganj upazila in the district.

According to locals, Maimuna went missing before her body was discovered in a pond next to their house while Junaid was found floating in a pond near their home and Miraj fell into a pond while playing in the morning.

Doctors declared all three children dead upon arrival when they arrived at the hospitals.

Confirming the matter, Chandpur Government General Hospital doctor Naser Abul Hasan said that the three children were brought dead in the hospital.
