The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed two separate cases against former commerce minister Tipu Munshi and his wife Irene Munshi on charges of acquiring illegal assets worth around Tk10 crore.

ACC Director General Md Akhtar Hossain confirmed the matter on Thursday (March 6).

In the case, Tipu has been accused of acquiring illegal assets worth Tk5 crore, alongside having suspicious transactions in 11 bank accounts amounting to around Tk32 crore.

In the other case, his wife Irene has been accused of acquiring undeclared assets worth around Tk4 crore.

In addition, the couple’s two daughters have several bank accounts, are directors of various companies, and have shares in various companies in their names, according to the ACC.

The ACC has decided to start an investigation against the two daughters as well.
