A District and Sessions Judge Court on Tuesday sentenced a man to death another to life term imprisonment in a case filed for the murder of a local trader at Kalmakanda upazila in Netrokona.

District and Sessions Judge, Md Hafizur Rahman, handed down the verdict in presence of the convicted after proving their guilt.

The convicted Md Shahjahan Miah, 21, has been sentenced to death and Md Abul Bashar alias Badsha Miah, gets life term imprisonment.

The court also fined them Tk 20,000 each, in default of which, they will have to serve one more years.

According to case statement, the victim Milan Miah, 20, local trader who worked at Kalaikandi primary school intersection area, was killed in February 21, 2020. His body was spotted away from his house.

Later, on information, police rushed to the scene and recovered the body which was sent to Netrokona Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.

Following the incident, the victim’s elder brother Md Shahidul Islam filed the case with Kalmakanda Police Station on February 23, 2020.

Earlier, the victim Milan maintained a friendly relationship with the accused Shahjahan. They used to transaction between them which attributed a dispute led to the deadly incident.
