Training on village court affairs

A certificate distribution ceremony was held at the Hall Room of Officers Club in the Collectorate Building of Sirajganj town on Wednesday after ending of a 4-day training workshop on village court (Gram Adalat) affairs.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Muhammad Nazrul Islam attended the programme as chief guest and distributed the certificates among the participants.

Earlier this, a four-day programme titled “Village court (Gram Adalat) affairs training” was arranged by the district administration with the participation of 27 trainees.

In the programme, DC Nazrul Islam said, “People of the rural areas will be benefited, if the activities of Gram Adalat are extended largely. This is why; there is no alternative of providing training to the government officers for serving of people in the village courts. Fair justice for all people of the society must be ensured. Initiative should be taken to settle the small and mid-size disputes in the local levels instead of going to courts. It will help to reduce pressure on the courts. The gridlock of cases will come to reduce. Therefore, there is huge importance of village court in the country. If we are able to provide right justice through the village court, people will lose interest to go to courts in town. They will be interested to make settlement over the disputed issues locally. It will help to safe both the time and money of poor and low income group of people in the villages.”

Deputy Director (Deputy Secretary) of the Local Government Department Md. Kamrul Islam presided over the concluding and certificate distribution ceremony.

Sadar Upazila Executive Officer Md. Monowar Hossain, District Information Officer Mohammad Ali, Deputy Director of Islamic Foundation Faruk Ahmed, Deputy Director of Social Services Department Md. Habibur Rahman Khan, Deputy Director of Youth Development Department Md. Shariful Islam and Deputy Director of the Women Affairs Department Kaniz Fatima among others were also present in the event.
