Rangpur Riders all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan is leaving for Singapore today to see an ophthalmologist as he continues to feel discomfort in his eyes, Ishtiaq Sadek, Chief Executive Officer of the franchise confirmed this information.

The Tiger all-rounder will leave the country on Sunday (January 21) at one o’clock on a Singapore flight. That’s why he is likely to miss a large part of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) due to his eyesight problem. It is not confirmed yet when he will return country as it will depend on the treatment procedure. Ishtiaq Sadek told the media that they will have to play at least the next three matches without Shakib.

Rangpur Riders captain Nurul Hasan Sohan said, “Shakib has always been a vital part of the team. He has been struggling with eyesight problems for some time now. I think he has been in touch with the doctors regularly. The doctors only could say in what stage the problem is now.”

Shakib went to London last week for a check-up on his eyes after he faced issues relating to his vision while batting. The trip was facilitated by Rangpur Riders but this time the Bangladesh Cricket Board has arranged the visit to the ophthalmologist in Singapore.

Shakib scored two runs and picked up a couple of wickets in yesterday’s five-wicket defeat at the hands of Tamim Iqbal’s Fortune Barishal in Mirpur.
