A mobile court on Monday seized 10 tonnes of banned polythene shopping bags from Dhaka-Rangpur highway near Hatikumrul Highway police station in Sirajganj district.
The mobile court led by Farzana Rahman Tonbi, Executive Magistrate of Sirajganj District Administration also imposed fine at Tk 2,000 in this connection.
Tuhin Alam, Assistant of Environment Department’s Sirajganj District Office said, “On the basis of secret information received by Hatikumrul Highway thana police, the team of mobile court raided the mentioned place and intercepted a truck loaded with 10 tonnes of banned polythene bags. Later, the polythene bags were seized and those along with the truck were taken to the custody of environment officials. But no one was detained in this incident. Action would be taken according to the environment act, said Tuhin Alam.
