The Election Commission (EC) is taking steps to make the National Identity Card (NID) mandatory for recruitment in all types of jobs, including government positions, said Director General of the National Identity Registration Division, A S M Humayun Kabir.
He came up with the remarks while speaking to journalists on Tuesday afternoon at the EC building.
He stated that discrepancies have been observed between academic information used in job applications and the information on the NID.
He further mentioned that under the NID Act, it is required to keep NID information for all types of offices and institutions in relation to employment. For those facing salary and related issues due to such discrepancies, the NID Wing has already issued directives for swift correction.
Additionally, he said that starting by July 15, Japan will become the ninth country where initiatives will be taken to include expatriate Bangladeshis in the voter list.
