The newly formed BNP government is set to undertake a special 180-day action plan to implement the commitments made by the party to the public during the 13th national parliamentary election.
According to cabinet members, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has instructed ministers to promptly inform the Prime Minister’s Office about the specific responsibilities and initiatives their respective ministries will undertake under the plan.
The information was disclosed following the first cabinet meeting of the newly formed government led by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.

According to cabinet members, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has instructed ministers to promptly inform the Prime Minister’s Office about the specific responsibilities and initiatives their respective ministries will undertake under the plan.
The information was disclosed following the first cabinet meeting of the newly formed government led by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.
He said the government’s immediate priorities include controlling commodity prices, further improving law and order, maintaining the supply chain, and ensuring stability in the energy sector, particularly gas and electricity.
“The prime minister has given clear directives on these issues,” he added.
The home minister also said the prime minister had issued several instructions to secretaries.
“The prime minister said the people have supported us based on our manifesto, and that manifesto must be implemented properly and in a timely manner,” Salahuddin said.
State Minister for Finance and Planning Zunaid Saki said several important directives were given at the first cabinet meeting.
With Ramadan beginning tomorrow, he said the prime minister has instructed all concerned to take necessary initiatives from their respective positions to provide relief to the public in terms of prices, law and order, and electricity and energy supply.
He added that the prime minister has also spoken about adopting a 180-day plan for the government, which will be presented to the cabinet very soon.
State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaid Islam said the prime minister instructed each ministry to work in line with the commitments made by the BNP to the people.
“Ministries have been directed to keep the party’s promises in mind while carrying out their responsibilities,” she said.
Information Minister Zahir Uddin Swapan said the prime minister advised all ministers to prioritise controlling prices during Ramadan.
“Maintaining law and order and ensuring uninterrupted electricity supply so that people do not face difficulties during iftar and taraweeh prayers are among the immediate priorities,” he said.
He added that the concerned ministers would submit their action plans to the prime minister within the next couple of days, after which steps would be taken in accordance with his directives.
All members of the new cabinet attended the session, marking the formal commencement of the government’s executive activities following its formation yesterday (17 February).
