TDS Desk:

A Dhaka court on Thursday set 26 February for the submission of the advanced probe report in the murder case of Inqilab Moncho spokesperson Sharif Osman Bin Hadi.

This marks the seventh time the CID report has been deferred since 15 January.

Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Sefatullah set the new date after the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) failed to submit the report within the scheduled time.

On 12 December last year, Hadi, an independent candidate from the Dhaka-8 constituency, was shot in Dhaka’s Paltan area. He died on 18 December while receiving treatment in Singapore.

On 14 December, Abdullah Al Jaber, member secretary of Inqilab Moncho, filed an attempted murder case with Paltan Model Police Station over the incident which later turned into a murder case after the death of Hadi.

Later in 6 January, DB Inspector Faisal Ahmed, the investigation officer of the case, submitted a chargesheet against 17 accused.

However, on 15 January, the plaintiff, filed a no-confidence (naraji) petition stating that the chargesheet skipped the main planners behind the killing.

Subsequently, the court directed the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to investigate the case.
