A battery-run auto-van driver was killed after being run over by a truck in Sirajganj Sadar upazila.

The accident occurred on Sunday morning at the Mulibari checkpost area on the west approach highway of the Jamuna Bridge in Sirajganj Sadar upazila.

The deceased was identified as Joyen Uddin, 50, son of Abdus Sattar of Soydabad area in the upazila.

Jamuna Bridge West Police Station Assistant Sub-Inspector Shafiqul Islam said a truck travelling along the Dhaka-bound lane in the Mulibari area ran over an auto-van and fled the scene.

He died on the spot, he said.

The body was handed over to the family after completion of legal procedures, he added.
