The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has deployed 23 specialized teams across the country’s major highways, bridges, and toll plazas to manage traffic congestion and ensure a safe journey for homebound citizens ahead of Eid-ul-Adha.

BGB Public Relations Officer Shariful Islam confirmed on Tuesday that these teams began operations on May 21. Working in coordination with local administrations and other law enforcement agencies, the paramilitary force will continue its oversight until three days after the Eid festival to facilitate a hassle-free return for travelers.

Strategic deployments have been made at key transit points to prevent bottlenecks. Four teams are stationed at the Elevated Expressway, Baipail, and Nabinagar areas, while six teams are managing the Padma Bridge and Dhaka-Mawa Expressway toll plazas.

Additionally, four teams are monitoring the Meghna, Panchabati, and Kanchan bridges, alongside the Mograpara and Kanchpur intersections.

Other critical areas under BGB watch include Gazipur Chowrasta, the east and west ends of the Jamuna Bridge, the Shah Amanat Karnaphuli Bridge in Chattogram, the Khan Jahan Ali Bridge in Khulna, and the Bhairab Bridge in Kishoreganj.

Deployment also extends to both ends of the Lalon Shah Bridge in Kushtia and Pabna, as well as the Atrai toll plaza in Natore. The initiative aims to maintain order and discipline on the roads during one of the year’s busiest travel periods.
